Sushi is just the start of what’s served up at Georgetown’s Rollin’ Local
You’ll need at least a handful of minutes to sift through the massive amount of menu choices (on two sides) at Rollin’ Local—maybe the equivalent of time it takes you to drink about half a bottle of Lucky Buddha beer.
The popular spot in historic downtown Georgetown on the corner of Front and Broad is only a few years old, but has quickly won over the hearts of local and visiting foodies. And that’s despite COVID restrictions and face mask requirements indoors. Choose to dine alfresco under the umbrella tables positioned on the Front Street sidewalk or indoors, surrounded by the rustic beauty and cool charm of the 1906 building’s past inhabitants: People’s Bank.
As the name implies, Rollin’ Local’s menu lists an abundance of sushi rolls—35 specialty, 11 classic and 12 nigiri and sashimi, to be exact—that are rolled, stuffed and artistically topped with a uniquely creative combo of fresh ingredients. Like the award-winning Sexy Roll with snow crab meat, fried onions, mango, cilantro, shrimp and jalapenos topped with tuna, black caviar, spicy mayo and kimchi wasabi sauce. Or the SC Crunch Roll packed with the delicious crunch of tempura crab, jalapeno and cream cheese, then topped with avocado, shrimp, eel sauce and spicy mayo.
You’ll be amazed at the depth of this restaurant’s kitchen, which also throws together a mean offering of fish, shrimp, and hibachi tacos; a slew of starters, such as fresh spring rolls and fresh fried okra; heaping platefuls of salads (we suggest the Asian Grilled Shrimp Salad, with wonton strips, edamame beans, almonds and more); burgers with fresh-cut fries; wings; bento box options that each include fried rice, six pieces of California roll, tempura veggies, crab wontons, and choice of dumplings or a fried spring roll; hibachi entrees; and coastal comfort entrees, like hamburger steak and a fried seafood platter. Plus, they offer killer specials, like Taco Tuesday and Burger Friday, as well as a selection of must-order cocktails, beers and wine from the bar.
No matter what you decide to go with at Rollin’ Local, you’ll be coming back to try more!
