This Asian fare is served with flair
The northeast corner of the Food Lion Shopping Complex on 38th Avenue North has beautifully traveled to the Far East in the form of Pho Claire Vietnamese Noodle House.
Recently opened in March, Pho Claire is a delicious, refreshing revamp to this once vacant real estate. Today, it’s glorious and gleaming, with crisp, white textured wall recesses, modern lighting, heather gray hardwood floors and an overall vibe that screams hip. There isn’t a bad seat in the house, with the dining room encased in natural light from the panoramic wall of floor-to-ceiling windows.
But that’s not all that’s eye-catching at Pho Claire. The Vietnamese-inspired noodle dishes pieced together behind the counter of the open kitchen are stunning.
For appetizers, the pair of pork-stuffed Cha Gio, or egg rolls, are crunchy and delectable—especially when dipped into the accompanying Vietnamese vinaigrette sauce. More options include a Vietnamese salad tossed with chicken and cabbage and a variety of summer rolls.
Then there are the heartwarming noodle soups and the cold noodle bowls, a healthy serving of cold rice vermicelli and your choice of fresh vegetables and proteins. But the star of this menu is the namesake Pho, a hearty bowl of broth packed with rare beef, a meatball, beef tripe, beef tendon, beef brisket and a side of egg yolk, along with sorrel, bean sprouts, lime and cilantro. That’s the deluxe beef pho, or you can choose to substitute chicken or shrimp. Regardless of your protein choice, you’ll want to slurp up the broth!
If you’d prefer your Vietnamese cuisine to be served outside of a bowl, try the Banh Mi sandwich stacked with delicately sliced pork (or chicken or beef), cucumbers, pickled vegetables, cilantro, jalapenos, pate and mayo between a toasted baguette.
And the specialty drink menu is just as refreshing, with an array of bubble teas, fresh smoothies and Vietnamese coffee.
Thanks to Pho Claire, you don’t need to travel far to become a bit more adventurous in your cultural palate.
