Alex and Jimmy met while they were both working on Capitol Hill for their local congressmen. After their first date, she told him she was moving back to South Carolina and they began a long distance relationship. Jimmy relocated about a year later. He popped the question at Hook & Barrel, where Alex was filming a Valentine's Day promo, by hiding a fake ring in a Baked Alaska.

The September 8, 2018, wedding at Dunes Golf & Beach Club featured a ceremony on the lawn overlooking the ocean that was officiated by Alex’s former boss, Congressman Tom Rice. Croissants Bistro & Bakery created the cake and amazing dessert display, and guests even got to take home unique edible succulents as favors. The romantic garden theme was brought to life with help from Memorable Moments.
