This in-depth tour will center on Friendfield Village, an African American village that was once home to 100 slaves and was lived in by black employees until 1952. The comprehensive exploration will take you by bus to be guided on foot through the cabins and the 19th century church. Hobcaw Barony has the unique chance to interpret history at the site from photography, oral histories, documents and visits from former residents. You’ll have two chances to take this fascinating tour in the fall, but don’t forget that reservations are required.
Hobcaw Barony, 22 Hobcaw Road. Monday, 1:30–3:30 p.m. $20. (843) 546-4623, hobcawbarony.org
