This alternative country/Southern rock band was born in 1996 when Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley, who had formerly played in various other groups, got together to begin making music of their own. Though the rest of the band’s lineup has been fairly fluid since it’s inception, Cooley and Hood have been mainstays. The group’s 11th studio album, American Band, was released in 2016.
