The mission of the Winyah Rivers Foundation is to protect, preserve, monitor and revitalize the health of the lands and waters of the greater Winyah Bay watershed. A member of the Waterkeeper Alliance, the Waccamaw Riverkeeper program is hosted by the foundation. The program advocates for healthy communities and clean water throughout the Winyah Bay watershed, including the Sampit, Lumber, Little and Greet Pee Dee, Waccamaw, Black and Lynches rivers.

Each year a photo contest acts as a fundraiser to help support the program’s commitment to protecting clean water. The funds raised also allow the foundation to highlight the river systems, an important asset to our area. The categories for the 2018 photo contest are Wildlife, Scenic, Hurricane/Flood and Georgetown County. Entries are being accepted through April 10 at winyahrivers.org.

Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum from May 4–June 10. An opening and awards reception will be held on Friday, May 4, from 5:30–7:30 p.m.
