Visual artist Aaron Henderson’s remarkable body of art employs the vibrant colors that are much a part of African and African-American culture. He aims to capture the spiritual, powerful and expressive feelings of his themes and transfer them into passionate images for his audience to reflect on. He tells life stories with the exquisite use of color in his pieces, which convey emotion, rhythm and harmony. Henderson uses his God-given talent to reflect his experiences, dreams and visions.

Henderson’s Harmonic Progression is part of the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum’s Collection Connections: A Visual Exploration of Southern Heritage exhibit. This show features around 40 works of art from the museum’s rich permanent collection. Pieces include paintings like Henderson’s, as well as antique maps and historical prints, works on paper, fabric quilts and photographs. Other artists featured in the exhibit include William H. Clarke, Cassandra Gillens and Jonathan Green. This exhibit uses works of art with a Southern history theme to teach and explore the culture and past of South Carolina and our entire region. Collection Connections is designed for both school students and adults alike and runs through April 8.
