We got ’em, right here in Horry County

Southern Sunrise Muscadine Wine
Hyman Vineyards, Conway, $10

Popular and pleasing, this late-season varietal will appeal to the most discerning muscadine fan. These grapes are full of antioxidants that are good for the body and have many health benefits. Hyman Vineyards also offers many other healthy products, such as ciders, jams, jellies, preserves, pickles, sauces and relishes.

Hatteras Red
Duplin Winery, Barefoot Landing, North Myrtle Beach, $8

A soft, easy-drinking red muscadine and probably the best seller among 30 different styles and flavors. Duplin also offers non-alcoholic, white, blush, red and even Port wines. Other products are jams, jellies, sauces and dressings, plus kits to make your own cocktail at home.

Twisted Sisters “Babe Magnet” Syrah
La Belle Amie Vineyards, Little River, $14

Under the label Twisted Sisters, this long established local winery features wines with names like “High Maintenance,” a Chenin Blanc, and “Heavenly Body,” a Cabernet Sauvignon, plus this full-bodied red with black currant fruit notes and a smoky, earthy mouthfeel. A fun place too, with music and food just about every day. Offerings also include other reds and whites, as well as sweet wines.

Barefoot Blush
Carolina Vineyards, Barefoot Landing, North Myrtle Beach, $12

This operation began in the upstate in 1999 and a retail store opened in Barefoot Landing a few years later. They offer a variety of wine products, including fruit wines, dry white and red wines, blends and even a chocolate collection. Most wines are $13 and up.

Elderberry Wine
Boardwalk Winery, Broadway at the Beach, $14

A sister operation to Carolina Vineyards, this location opened in 2010 and has a good selection of fruit wines: blueberry, blackberry and mango, as well as blends of peach and raspberry available in four levels of sweetness, plus a dry Merlot. Lots of choices for every palate and the non-alcoholic fruit slushes are also a treat.
