Hurricane Hugo: The Batiks of Leo Twiggs

In 1989, Hurricane Hugo devastated much of the Carolina Lowcountry, the childhood home of Dr. Leo F. Twiggs. This exhibition features a series of nine batik paintings created the year after the storm. Twiggs was born in 1934 in St. Stephen and graduated from Claflin College in Orangeburg before completing his graduate studies at the Art Institute of Chicago and New York University. Franklin G.
