The beautiful southern two miles of Debidue Island belong to the Belle W. Baruch Foundation. Join Hobcaw Barony staff on a trip to this undeveloped portion of the barrier island to learn about the annual summer migration of rice planters, William Alston (King Billy) and his “castle,” his son Joseph and his wife Theodosia Burr, and annual sea turtle nesting. Wear comfortable shoes, dress for the weather, and bring water and sunscreen. Note that restroom facilities will not be available after leaving the Discovery Center. (Exertion level: High impact – hiking four miles on sand) Reservations required.
