Hike Hobcaw Beach

Hike Hobcaw Beach

The gorgeous southern two miles of Debidue Island belong to the Belle W. Baruch Foundation. Join Hobcaw Barony staff on a trip to this undeveloped portion of the barrier island to learn about the annual summer migration of rice planters, William Alston (King Billy) and his “castle,” his son, Joseph, and his wife Theodosia Burr, Belle Baruch’s work as a coastal observer from her grass shack during World War II, and annual sea turtle nesting. Hobcaw Barony, 22 Hobcaw Rd. Friday, 1-4 p.m. $38. (843) 546-4623 www.hobcawbarony.org
