This is a unique, free, docent-led tour of Fighters for Freedom: William H. Johnson Picturing Justice. This traveling exhibition, on loan from the Smithsonian American Art Museum, provides in-depth perspective into the latter work of Florence native, William Henry Johnson. Johnson (1901–1970) painted his last body of work, the Fighters for Freedom series, in the mid-1940s as a tribute to African-American activists, scientists, teachers and performers as well as international leaders working to bring peace to the world. This landmark exhibition brings together—for the first time since 1946—34 paintings featured in the series. Registration is required. Florence County Museum, 111 West Cheves St. Sunday, 2:15-3 p.m. Free. (843) 676-1200 www.flocomuseum.org
