Brookgreen Gardens’ beautiful backdrop provided the perfect setting for their Cinderella wedding

Those who know Wendy Lee Smith will tell you that she has a love for Cinderella. For her wedding to Fran Sauvageau on October 5, 2013, at Brookgreen Gardens, she wanted to have glamour for groom Fran, while still capturing her own  whimsical style. They chose gray dresses for the bridesmaids so that the beauty of the flowers and of the venue would do the work. The groom and best man wore morning frock tails and top hats. And because Wendy is admittedly not the most graceful, her husband-to-be surprised her with two flower girls—one who carried Wendy’s shoes on a silver platter and one who rang little bells.

Decorations included aisles that were marked with lanterns on shepherd hooks. Five custom-made chandeliers were hung in the reception tent, and custom flower stands were filled with huge arrangements. Tables were adorned with crystal vases that were lit from within and had flowers that matched the flowers matching those featured in the bouquet and the ceremony site.

To make sure all of their guests could indulge in their wedding cake, Cupcakes by Cravinley’s also provided a mini version of their cake, which was sugar-free. Event planner Leslie Menich was instrumental in helping Wendy and Fran have the wedding of their dreams.
