More and more wineries are offering better wines with easy-to-open, twist-off closures. Another plus, no need to lay down bottles to prevent dry corks and spoiled wine.

Mollydooker  “The Boxer” Shiraz 2009 McClaren Vale, South Australia, $25
I believe this is the best red wine you can buy for 25 bucks. It was developed by Sparky Marquis and his wife, Sarah, both “mollydookers (Aussie for left-handed).  Rich, ripe flavors of the classic Shiraz from Australia.

Conundrum White 2009
California, $18
A conundrum is a puzzle, and the puzzle here is defining the grape blend. They do come from Napa, Monterey, Santa Barbara and Tulare counties, and probably include Chardonnay and Viognier.This unique cuvee, or blend, will always be appreciated, especially by your wine-loving friends.
