Sometimes with the stress of the holiday season, we lose sight of the things that really matter. The true spirit of Christmas is easily tossed aside in shopping lines, last minute baking and obligatory events. Reclaim the season with a festive production from one of our local theater groups.
The Atlantic Stage, which has recently moved its productions to the Myrtle Beach Mall, will be putting on A Christmas Carol. This favorite holiday tale tells the story of redemption of a human soul as it follows Scrooge, a lonely miser. The audience will watch Scrooge find his second chance with the help of spirits and visions from his past, present and future.
Conway’s Theatre of the Republic chooses a special Christmas production and back by popular demand is a repeat of last year’s selection, A Christmas Story (pictured above). This play follows Ralphie Parker’s quest for the perfect Christmas gift—a Red Ryder BB gun.
If you’re looking for something a bit more traditional, be sure to check out one of the annual area Christmas shows like The Palace’s Christmas Wonderland: The Holiday Show, The Carolina Opry’s Christmas Special or the Alabama Theatre’s The South’s Grandest Christmas Show. For more information on each show, see our calendar listings.
