Myrtle Beach showcases its culinary bounty with special
meal deals during Restaurant Week 2011
This January, follow your gastronomic whims to the delectable dinners offered at Myrtle Beach’s plentiful restaurants. Throughout the week of January 14–22, Myrtle Beach will host its second-annual Restaurant Week, showing off the Grand Strand’s culinary attractions. During the week, participating restaurants will offer deals from a special menu, such as a three-course meal for $30 per person. Once inside the restaurant, though, you are welcome to be tempted by the regular menu options if your taste buds so incline you.
“As a tourism destination, culinary is a big part of what we do and it’s important to showcase that,” notes Stephen Greene, president of Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association. But this week is not only about bringing in visitors to see the grandeur of Myrtle Beach, it’s also designed to reacquaint residents to local spots, encouraging a break from the routine.
And the Myrtle Beach Hospitality Association is ready to step the week up a notch. Greene acknowledges, “Different people like different types of food.” As a result, this year’s goal is to offer a cross-section of restaurants, to include a variety of dining options.
Restaurant Week, already a popular event in many states, is a promotional tool for cities and restaurants alike. Deemed “The Most Delicious Week of the Year” for Myrtle Beach’s inaugural event in 2010, this year hopes to exceed expectations—and taste buds.
