Catch some waves, cut a rug, and chow down on succulent food

All good things must come to an end, but who says you can’t squeeze in one more festivity before waving goodbye to summer? That is what the Fifth Annual Beach, Boogie, & Barbecue is all about as it brings the Sun Fun Festival: A Celebration of Summer to a close. Hosted by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Omar Shriners, the event is fun for the whole family and delivers a long list of activities, including the Official Barbecue Cooking Competition of South Carolina.

The competition is scheduled for Friday evening, and guests are welcome to taste the BBQ for $1 per sample after it is judged. Bring a stack of dollar bills (or, better yet, purchase a $10 wristband for unlimited sampling) because— believe us—you will want to try them all. On Saturday, there will be more than sixty vendors to choose from, and, if you like what you taste, you can purchase a whole plate of the good stuff, not to mention its tasty sidekicks: slaw and baked beans. Also on deck for the summer-end event are kid zones, wakeboard demonstrations, beer gardens, art vendors, and a fireworks finale.

Summer might be setting, but you can keep it coming all weekend as you boogie under the stars and chow down on mouth-watering barbecue. Celebrate to the end, and don’t miss a drop of summer—or of sauce for that matter.

Boogie On
