Southeast Talent Search looking for Grand Strand stars

The stars don’t just shine in New York and Los Angeles. They’re also beaming bright in the spotlight here in Myrtle Beach like diamonds in the rough among us—the girls and guys next door, if you will.

That’s the thinking of the CDMT Agency out of Mt. Pleasant  as they host the upcoming Southeast Talent Search March 16–18 at Litchfield Beach Resort and Conference Center.

Sheena Rote, a regional talent director based in Myrtle Beach, says they’re auditioning now up until the three-day event to narrow down to 100 candidates who will appear before a roster of national agents such as Sony; B&G Music; RCA; Next Model Management of Miami; Wilhelmina Models; Hollywood East Casting for Screen Gems Studio in Wilmington, N.C.; Richard Futch, casting director for Army Wives; CESD Talent of New York; and Coast to Coast Talent Group out of L.A.

This is the seventh talent search showcase for CDMT, which has been discovering and representing models, actors, singers and dancers since 1997. The hand-selected 100 will have the opportunity to participate in runway, acting, photography, commercial, dance and vocal gigs.

“These agents are looking for more than looks,” says Rote. “They want those who have the drive and want it—not just someone who’s in it for fun or being pushed by their parents. That really makes the difference to a client. Someone who isn’t just a headshot.”

Some Myrtle Beach success stories from Southeast Talent Search include Clark Gilmer, who competed on America’s Next Top Model and appeared in American Apparel ads and an Enrique Iglesias/Ludacris video; Callie Davis in Trek Bikes national print ads; and Olivia Wicker, who was booked for an iPod shoot and appeared in national print ads.

The Southeast Talent Search is looking for talent at any age. “And we encourage people to come back if they don’t make the cut for this search,” says Rote. “We always offer workshops in acting, runway walking and more, plus find them local casting as well.”
