After an extensive, nationwide search, the Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art (PIFMA) has announced that ‘The Garden of Melodies’ by Marlina Vera has been chosen as the official 2024 poster for the three-week event.
“Energetic and colorful, Marlina’s art beautifully depicts the festival and the diverse talent of our performers,” said Executive Director Susan Bryant. “We have been so fortunate the last three years to find artists that really do personify what the Festival is all about through their art.”
Marlina Vera was born in Ecuador, and at 20, she immigrated to the United States to pursue her passion for art. Along with art, Marlina has a love for music.
“Music is a big part of my creative process. I listen to music, from classical to jazz and salsa, while I paint. Music liberates the spirit and enhances creativity,” she says. “I’m honored to be part of this year’s Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art.”
Marlina is awarded a monetary prize for her design, and “gives us the rights to use the art for one year in all our marketing efforts,” Susan explains.
The artist, who lives in Florida, hopes to make it to Pawleys during the PIFMA festival, which kicks off October 3 with the much-anticipated 24th Annual Food and Wine Gala. Tickets are on sale now.
The Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art, held at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which features three weeks of cultural entertainment and musical performances including the aforementioned Gala that serves as the event’s primary fundraiser.
