Event marks 36th year

Saturday, March 14, marks the date of one of the Grand Strand’s most popular (and fun!) events: The North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival, now in its 36th year.

In this happy “sea of green,” expect more than 120 vendors, who will be offering their arts/crafts, festival and Irish-themed food and drink, and much more. Additionally, Main Street businesses will have a variety of libations and cuisine available!

As Angel Sylvester, Special Events & Programs Manager for the City of North Myrtle Beach/| Parks & Recreation notes: “The 36th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival is taking over Main Street with floats, music, food, and all-day fun!”

The festive parade of St. Patrick’s Day-themed and decorated floats kicks off the fun at 9 a.m. The parade route and direction will be the same as in 2025, she explains, starting on Ocean Boulevard and ending at Kings Highway. An emcee announcing parade participants will be stationed at the entrance of the Horseshoe. Judges will also be stationed at the Horseshoe to vote for their “Best” parade entries.

After the parade, continue the fun with a street festival! Three stages of live entertainment will keep everyone in the Irish spirit all day. Expect Irish Pipe Bands, Irish Dancers, and many more live performances.

As usual, there will be a Leprechaun and Leprechaun Jr. costume contest. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, appearance, enthusiasm, and energy. Sign up at the information booth or the Irish Stage before 2 pm. The contests will be at the Irish stage at 2:30 p.m., says Sylvester. A Shepherd’s Pie Eating Contest is equally fun. First to clear their plate (without using hands) wins a plaque, bragging rights, and a gift card.

“This event showcases the heart of North Myrtle Beach — local businesses, performers, volunteers, and families all coming together for a day filled with Irish spirit and unforgettable memories,” she concludes.
