When you know you know'

“When you know, you know.”
It’s exactly the mantra that Mary Grace Graham and Kellie Alexander “Alex” Moses followed in their love story, starting from the moment they first met in October 2018.
“We both had been through a lot–pain, happiness, trials, bumps in the road,” says Mary Grace. “Personally, I was about to give up on love, when that one day Alex stepped into my life and changed it for the better, forever. It didn’t take long for us to fall head over heels/boots for each other.”
They exchanged “I love you’s” on Mary Grace’s 26th birthday on October 26, 2018, at RipTydz Oceanfront Grille and, exactly one year later, Alex proposed. He got down on one knee in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, surrounded by a circle of some of the couple’s best friends (and half the town) and, of course, she said, “Yes!”
“I can honestly say it was the greatest moment of my entire life,” says Mary Grace. “… It was surprise, excitement, emotion all rolled up into one. I knew this man was meant to be mine not long after meeting him. Love at first sight? Maybe!”
Mary Grace and Alex were married on November 21, 2020, amidst the magical, ethereal backdrop of the Nights of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens. (It also happened to be a special day because it was the same day as Mary Grace’s grandmother’s 81st birthday.)
It was only natural that the theme of the wedding was Christmas winter elegance, a nod to the location, the date, and the bride’s favorite holiday. Dramatic deep reds mingled with gold, silver, and white snowflakes in the wedding party's bouquets and around the reception tent, plus strings of white lights danced overhead in Brookgreen’s Oak Allee.
Mary Grace, a stylist and buyer at The Foxy Lady, donned a gorgeous, special-ordered Mori Lee gown by Madeline Gardner trimmed in ostrich feathers and trailing in a train long behind her. Her eight bridesmaids wowed in deep red Vera Wang gowns paired with white fur stoles and her three matrons of honor added a spark in fully sequined light gold gowns from Revelry and white fur stoles.
The reception to follow, catered by Inlet Affairs, was spotlighted by a delicious spread of Southern comforts, like she crab soup, shrimp & grits with Tasso andouille sausage gravy, tomatoes and green onions, a dinner station of Southern fried chicken, mac and cheese, green beans, and cheese biscuits, and a station with smoked pork lion, garlic mashed potatoes, collard greens, and cranberry aioli. For dessert, sweet family and friends home-baked about 20 different family recipes. Each dessert was then labeled with recipe cards to share the love with all guests.
“If you ask us, we had the best vendor team in the South and we will be forever grateful for their hard work in making all of our wedding day dreams come true,” says Mary Grace.
