Annual event sets sail at The Market Common on April 26
Saturday, April 26, marks one of the most fun events of the spring season, when nonprofit Ground Zero will once again be hosting its annual Dragon Boat Festival at The Market Common.
Teams of up to 24 paddlers and one drummer come together at the lake to race 46-foot-long dragon boats in a friendly, yet competitive atmosphere. But beyond the thrills of the race, this event serves a greater purpose, explains Ground Zero’s Advancement Director, Stephanie Sebring-Wilson. Every dollar raised goes directly to supporting local area teenagers and the mission of Ground Zero: to generate a movement of teenagers coming to Christ, living for Him and impacting their world. The Dragon Boat Festival is the agency’s largest fundraiser, with this year’s goal set at $275,000.
This year marks the 17th anniversary of this popular event, which boasts 80 vendors with food and drink trucks, a Family Fun Zone, a drummer costume contest, live DJ, and more than 10,000 in attendance during this one-day event, Sebring-Wilson continues.
“The Dragon Boat Festival is more than a race – it’s a movement. It’s a chance to bring people together, inspire teamwork, and support the future leaders of our community.
This is the best way you'll spend a Saturday in April!”
