Faces of the Grand Strand 2019
Freedom Boat Club of the Grand Strand started in North Myrtle Beach in 2009 with five boats and 30 members. Today there are six locations (North Myrtle Beach, two each in Murrells Inlet and Charleston, and one in Southport, N.C.) and over 600 members and 60 boats at those clubs.
GSM: Tell us about your company.
FBC: Our members enjoy a truly hassle-free boating lifestyle. They no longer concern themselves with maintenance, insurance, dock fees and cleaning. They just show up and go boating, we do all the work, they have all the fun. In addition to unlimited access to the six local locations, members also get reciprocal usage at the 180-plus clubs throughout the US, Canada, France and the United Kingdom, at no additional cost.
GSM: What do your customers say they love about your company?
FBC: Members love the variety and quality of boats we provide that allows them to enjoy hassle-free boating. Our social events, including member boat trips and the Freedom Boating Diva Program, are very popular too. Members love the passion that our crew has for the club.
GSM: What would you like to share with readers?
FBC: Freedom does not rent boats—we own the boats and our members use them. Our goal is to make boating fun. There used to be the Two Best Days in a Boaters Life: 1. When they bought their boat, and 2. When they sold that boat. We think we provide a third best day—When they join the Freedom Boat Club.
