Crady’s Eclectic Cuisine takes center stage in Conway

Crady’s is to Main Street Conway what a seafood restaurant is to the MarshWalk in Murrells Inlet: Vital.

The pretty little bistro on the corner of Main and Fourth has been a lunchtime landmark for a dozen years in the historic town west of the waterway. It also stars in the perfect supporting role for dinner-and-a-show when Theatre of the Republic across the street has a production on its marquee.

Master baker Barbara Whitley and family first opened it as a coffee shop, serving up some of her heavenly pastries. But now she’s become the queen of quiche and more. Her menu holds true to its eclectic claim, so quiche and pastries aren’t the only concoctions coming out of the kitchen.

That being said, you must try some quiche. It’s made from scratch, and the combinations are changed daily and feature the likes of spinach and feta or chicken and asparagus. Attention to detail is noticeable in each morsel. Ingredients and seasonings have been chosen, chopped, cooked and baked with great care.

Additional light fare favorites are The Crady salad—a blend of baby greens, candied walnuts, dried cranberries, fried goat cheese and cider vinaigrette; the veggie burger topped with fresh veggies, smoked gouda and a side of spicy chipotle for dipping; and a smattering of sandwiches, including the Flounder Po’Boy smothered with jalapeno and caper tartar sauce or the Fried Green Tomato BLT served on toasted homemade brioche.

And, of course, save room for Barbara’s desserts, ranging from her signature cappuccino chocolate brownies to crème brulee and more. Libations from the bar or the Whitleys’ home-brewed tea are happily poured upon request.
Space is limited, so reservations are recommended.
