Spread holiday cheer with wines from the Carolinas

Christmas at Biltmore Red Wine
Asheville, NC  $18
The Biltmore winery opened in 1971, and now bottles dozens of red, white, sparkling and limited-edition wines. Christmas at Biltmore Red is a blend of Cabernet, Merlot, and other lesser grapes. Starting with a fragrant nose of dark red berries, it’s fruit forward and slightly sweet, with a medium body. Add to your holiday joy and serve alongside decadent chocolate desserts.

Duplin Flamingle Jingle
North Myrtle Beach, SC  $17
Muscadine grapes thrive in the Carolinas and Duplin Winery has been very successful introducing a variety of products over the years. They offer three holiday wines: red Christmas Wine and white Naughty & Nice, both $10, and this Flamingle Jingle, a rose with a salmon color. Crisp, fruity, with a sparkling pop of Christmas cheer. Served chilled with your favorite holiday foods.

Carolina Vineyards Santa’s Reward
Barefoot Landing, North Myrtle Beach  $15
This operation, located at Barefoot Landing, makes their wines from many different kinds of fruit, including blueberry, peach, pineapple, and red raspberry. This example is a spiced cranberry wine, with cranberry notes from opening aromas to the spicy finish. Alcohol is 12%, and easy to pair with fruit pies and other sweets.

Silver Coast Holiday Red Wine
Ocean Isle Beach, NC  $18
Opened in 2002, Silver Coast produces a variety of red and white wines on site, in the classic European style, from regionally harvested grapes. This example is a blend of several red grapes and offers aromas of pomegranate and plum. On the palate, notes of tart black cherry and lush raspberry. It has silky mouthfeel and lingering finish. Just right for your Holiday meals!

Boardwalk Winery Sleigh Ride
Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach, SC  $15
A limited-edition wine, it’s produced and bottled locally from fruit grown in the region. Spiced pear and cranberry are the main ingredients and it offers a spicy, but semi-sweet flavor. Alcohol is 12%, and naturally goes well with fresh pear and other fruit dishes. Also available is Mistletoe, another limited-edition wine, with a taste profile of candy cane!
