The Murrells Inlet festival showcases fine craftsmanship and amazing artwork
Kick off your June with a weekend filled with great art and tons of fun at Brookgreen Gardens. The Brookgreen Art Festival is a two-day event that showcases the fine craftsmanship and amazing art being produced both regionally and throughout the nation. The festival not only offers the chance to purchase one-of-a-kind pieces, but also an opportunity to chat with local and regional artists and authors about their works. Media demonstrations will be on the schedule as well, so you can watch the creative process of featured artists and learn about how they make their art.
Since the Brookgreen Art Festival is free with garden admission, this is also a perfect chance to make a day of a trip to Brookgreen Gardens. In addition to the incredible sculpture pieces housed within the gardens year-round, there will also be two summer exhibits to explore. Featured in the Noble Gallery will be Emerging Stars in American Sculpture, which will include selected works from artists in the National Sculpture Society Modeling Competitions. The Jennewein Gallery exhibit will be Six Masters: Sculptors in Residence, 2017–2019, and will feature works by recent sculptors in residence like Scott Rogers and Wesley Wofford.
Though this is a weekend for art, artistic creations are far from the only beautiful sight to take in at Brookgreen. Stroll through the gardens to see what’s in bloom during the warmer months. Enjoy the zoo portion of the grounds and observe the animals housed on-site, including otters, foxes and a variety of birds.
A summer trip to the gardens is always a must, and the Brookgreen Art Festival makes it even better. The festival will take place on Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
