Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art brings great variety of both

A non-profit organization, the Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art strives “to create and enhance cultural awareness and enrich the quality of life” for our community. To say they outdo themselves in this ambitious endeavor is an understatement.

This year’s event marks 22 years of bringing quality performances, art, programs and more to the residents and visitors of the Grand Strand. The lineup for 2013 includes a wine gala, open air art, a performance by Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., a fundraiser for Teach My People featuring American Idol contestant Elise Testone, music by Vivace, Mac Arnold’s powerful blues, and many more unique cultural events.

Funds raised throughout the course of the entertainments will benefit the Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art and other great causes, including the Kathryn Bryan Metts Scholarship for the Visual Arts. Metts, a local artist, lost her battle with cancer in 2006. The scholarship in her name is awarded to a student from Georgetown County or Alamance County, N.C., which houses Metts’ hometown of Burlington.
