At 13 feet wide, “Pavilion” is one of his massive works, named after the Myrtle Beach amusement park.
Rutenberg titled this piece "The Fading" after a poem by South Carolina’s first Poet Laureate, Archibald Rutledge. Rutenberg creates one body of work, consisting of 12 to 14 paintings, over several months, working on many of the individual pieces simultaneously.
Rutenberg has worked out of his West 27th Street studio in New York City for five years.
The recently completed “Chestnut Turn” replicates the gold tones of fall, his favorite season.
