Usher in spring and the arrival of boating season with the ninth year of the Annual Burning of the Socks. This traditional began in the mid-1980s in Maryland, where Captain Bob Turner, who was tired of winter weather, burned the soiled socks he’d been working in all through the chilly season. The Georgetown event will also include raffles and door prizes, Cajun gumbo, adult beverages and live music with proceeds benefitting the museum.
