The Blessing of the Inlet marks its 27th anniversary this year. Held annually at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church on the first Saturday in May, it has grown to attract thousands of people and become one of the area’s favorite festivals. The observance is highlighted by an Inlet Blessing ceremony at 10 a.m. at the Seawall Cross. The Reverends Will Malambri, Isaac Dusenbury and Pastor JT Brown will lead attendees in a time of thanksgiving for all of God’s blessings on the Inlet and in the local community. The Blessing of the Inlet is also a day of entertainment, lots of arts and craft vendors, children’s play area, games, and participation by local restaurants and food trucks. The Blessing of the Inlet has taken place since 1996 and generates funds for many local missions, charities, and non-profit organizations with a focus on the people and lives of Murrells Inlet and the South Strand.
