This year’s event also includes a half marathon, and 5K. Begun in 1998, the Myrtle Beach Marathon takes place on the first weekend in March. The starting line will be on Robert Grissom Parkway, just south of the intersection of Grissom Pkwy. and Monticello Drive. It ends in the parking lot of TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The race follows a counter-clockwise route. Race day parking is available at Broadway at the Beach. Parking is free, but it’s first come, first served. Local drivers can expect congestion between 4 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. (for the stragglers) along the race route. Allow lots of extra time to get to your destination and expect to get frustrated if you haven’t looked at the race map. Robert Grissom Pkwy./Monticello Drive. Saturday, 7 a.m. $45-$134.
