Alex and Jennifer grew up in the same town north of Atlanta, where they met in eighth grade. At the end of high school, they began dating and attended the University of Georgia. After seven and a half years together, it was a typical night and the couple planned to have dinner with Alex’s parents. Before eating, everyone was outside on the porch enjoying cocktails when Jennifer noticed a helicopter hovering overhead. She assumed it was a news copter until it landed a few hundred feet away. Alex took Jennifer for an amazing ride over downtown Atlanta as the sun was setting. He proposed just as they landed at a hotel to have a celebratory dinner. The ceremony was held at DeBordieu Colony and the couple said their vows overlooking the marsh. The event included beach-themed pieces like driftwood on tables, small starfish in the floral centerpieces and lots of seafood on the menu.
