The pair met through friends at the University of South Carolina and realized they had attended the same schools from elementary through high school but had never met before. After six years of dating, part of it long distance, David proposed on a trip to St. John during a night walk on the beach, after which they celebrated with friends. The wedding was held at the Ocean Club at Grande Dunes with the ceremony taking place on the beach. The wedding party wore ocean blues and the beach formal theme extended to the reception, which overlooked a lighted pool and moonrise offshore and featured corn hole on the balconies.
