The Long Bay Symphony celebrated its 30th anniversary with a reception at South State Bank. During the event a preview of the upcoming season was presented.

This Brookgreen Gardens gala was an evening of masks, music and merriment. Featuring a silent auction, live music, Italian delicacies and luscious libations, the event raised money for the enchanting Ribbit the Exhibit, a traveling installation by J.A. Cobb presented by the Friends of Brookgreen Gardens.

This year’s Salt Air Jam featured a concert at the North Myrtle Beach Park & Recreation Amphitheater that included Trey Calloway, The Tim Clark Band and was headlined by Edwin McCain. The event raises awareness and gathers donations for cystic fibrosis.

The 2017 Chanticleer Gala was held at the Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort and Spa at Grande Dunes. Proceeds from the event help support the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation’s mission of providing financial assistance for CCU’s Athletic Department needs.

The Myrtle Beach Multiple Myeloma Support Group and The Janet Kerrigan Foundation held a fundraiser for Multiple Myeloma at Liberty Steakhouse and Brewery. All proceeds from the event were given to the International Myeloma Foundation to help fund research for a cure.

The 23rd annual Monday After the Masters, hosted by Hootie and the Blowfish, was held at the Dye Course at Barefoot Resort. Proceeds from the event go to the Hootie and the Blowfish Foundations, which supports public education in South Carolina, and numerous other charities.

The North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club held Purses With Purpose at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes. Local male celebrities modeled designer handbags in a live auction, and a silent auction was also held. Event proceeds support the group’s mission to help women, children and youth in need.

The American Heart Association held its Heart Ball at the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort. The evening featured a cocktail reception and dinner as well as silent and live auctions, all to raise money to benefit the Heart Association, whose goal is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

The Carolina Master Chorale held its spring fundraiser, “A Taste of Passion,” at Pine Lakes Country Club. Members of the Chorale regaled patrons with the best of Broadway as heavy hors d’oeuvres were served. A live auction was conducted while patrons perused more than 15 choice silent auction items.

New Directions for Men, Women, and Families held its second annual Compassion Through Fashion fundraiser at the Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort at Grande Dunes. The fashion show featured inventive, original fashion ensembles from local designers using recycled materials.

The annual Smith Medical Clinic Gala was held at Frank’s Restaurant in Pawleys Island. The event included live and silent auctions, music, hors d’oeuvres and food stations. The gala benefited the clinic, whose mission is to care for low-income uninsured residents of Georgetown County.

The Franklin G. Burroughs–Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum held its benefit, Whiskey & Jazz, at a 1920s-era Pine Lakes home. The evening included music by jazz vocalist and performing artist Ann Caldwell, whiskey tastings, a wine bar, a live painting and a caricaturist.

The best in local advertising was honored at the American Advertising Federation Coastal Carolinas chapter annual awards gala at American Tap House. The Brandon Agency took home the night’s top prize, the Best in Show award.

Three outstanding South Carolinians were recognized during the Celebration of Inspiring Women, part of the Women’s Leadership Conference, sponsored by Women in Leadership and Philanthropy at Coastal Carolina University. Recogzined were Vanessa Wyche, Lou Kennedy and Kristin Bohan.

The 12th annual Bag Ladies Luncheon was held at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club. The fundraiser for the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum featured a handbag auction, a catered lunch and a special drawing for designer handbags.
