The Rotary Club of Little River held its third annual Spirits of Giving fundraiser at The Parson’s Table. Proceeds from the event benefited the North Myrtle Beach Area Historical Museum, The North Strand Housing Shelter and the HGTC Culinary Program, among others.

Hundreds of brave souls took a dip in the Atlantic Ocean in February for the Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge. The event took place on the beach in front of the Sands Ocean Club, all to benefit Special Olympics South Carolina.

The Franklin G. Burroughs–Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum held its benefit, Whiskey & Jazz, at a 1920s-era Pine Lakes home. The evening included music by jazz vocalist and performing artist Ann Caldwell, whiskey tastings, a wine bar, a live painting and a caricaturist.

The best in local advertising was honored at the American Advertising Federation Coastal Carolinas chapter annual awards gala at American Tap House. The Brandon Agency took home the night’s top prize, the Best in Show award.

Three outstanding South Carolinians were recognized during the Celebration of Inspiring Women, part of the Women’s Leadership Conference, sponsored by Women in Leadership and Philanthropy at Coastal Carolina University. Recogzined were Vanessa Wyche, Lou Kennedy and Kristin Bohan.

The 12th annual Bag Ladies Luncheon was held at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club. The fundraiser for the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum featured a handbag auction, a catered lunch and a special drawing for designer handbags.

The Signature Chefs Auction presented by the March of Dimes was held at the Myrtle Beach Marriott at Grande Dunes. The event featured live and silent auctions and tastings from local chefs, all to promote stronger, healthier babies in our community.

The Grand Strand Miracle League held its annual Songwriters in the Round fundraiser at Osprey Marina on November 20, 2016. The event was an up-close-and-personal evening with songwriters in an intimate venue. Songwriters included Billy Montana, Kylie Sackley, Phillip Lammonds and more.  Photographs by Matt Silfer.

Grand Strand Magazine joined forces with the Carolina Regional Cancer Society and Ruth's Chris to celebrate Women in Business and Caring in Our Lifetime. The October 20 event was held on the deck at Ruth's Chris. A $2,500 check was donated to Caring in Our Lifetime, a group devoted to assisting those with breast cancer.

Grand Strand Magazine got a behind-the-scenes look at the new Hard Rock Mytle Beach Sc, which will open on Friday, Oct. 7, in its new location at Broadway at the Beach. Check it out!

Grand Strand Magazine’s Most Stylish strutted their stuff as models in the inaugural Market Common Fashion Show. More than 15 stores in The Market Common showcased their hottest looks and a portion of the proceeds went to the Hope House charity. At this sold out event, guests enjoyed a fashion night out.

The Members Club at Grande Dunes hosted the 2016 Dancing with the Horry Country Stars Kickoff party. Local celebrities and professionals were paired up and will compete in the dance competition November 19 raising money for the Horry County Early College High School.

The 17th Annual Guy Daniels Surfoff was held in Surfside Beach. Luke Gordon was the winner of the first Pro Am event. The Guy Daniels Memorial Foundation dedicates itself to promoting clean beaches, environmental conservation and helps students acheive their higher educational goals.

The Market Common and Grand Strand Magazine teamed up to host the first annual Market Common Fashion Show featuring Grand Strand Magazine’s Most Stylish on July 30th. Clothing, accessories and shoes were from the fabulous retailers at The Market Common and money raised benefitted Hope House who provides a safe environment including shelter and clothing for homeless teens who are actively completing the academic requirements for their high school diploma.

New Directions, a non-profit in Myrtle Beach that operates four homeless shelters encouraging people to get back on their feet, hosted the first Compassion Through Fashion event at the Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort at Grande Dunes. Fashions were made from everyday, unusual materials and awards were given out. The event raised more than $30,000.

Swimwear designer Tara Grinna hosted a charity fashion show at a private home in Myrtle Beach. The show was produced by Jason Frahm and featured local models wearing swimwear designs.

The Whiskers, Wags & Wine event was held at The Brentwood Restaurant and Wine Bistro in Little River. The food and wine tasting benefited The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach. The event included heavy hors d’oeuvres, wine tastings, live music, a silent auction and raffle.

Hope House of Myrtle Beach celebrated national Red Nose Day at the Anchor Cafe. During the event, Anchor Cafe presented Hope House with a check for $4,968. The funds were raised through Anchor Cafe’s season-long dollar game, McConnell Golf’s Footprints on the Green program and a matching donation from LStar Management.

August 2016

Conway Medical Center Foundation hosted the 23rd annual Kingston Golf Classic at the Legends Golf Resort. The annual Kingston Party was held Friday night with music, games and a raffle. Proceeds from the two-day event went to CMC Foundation’s Healthreach Program.
