Potato Pancake's

The best, made-from-scratch potato pancakes on the Grand Strand are at the eccentrically rustic Bodo’s, a hidden gem of authenticity. The quaint pub has been serving true German fare and draught biers since 1984. Although menu items are hard to pronounce, let alone read, the dishes are flavorful, hearty and worth every penny paid. Not to mention the German beers are available by the .5 liter.

But the one reason to go, and what will beckon a return visit, is for the potato pancakes. Even though they take 20 minutes to prepare, as the menu claims, they are “well worth every minute.” The plate-sized pancakes come out fried to perfection, steaming and crispy, with sides of sour cream and applesauce. Owner Bodo Binninger will be there to fix them just for you. 407 Eighth Ave. N., Myrtle Beach, (843) 448-1310
