The Dragon Boat Festival hits the water for a good cause

Now in its ninth year, the Ground Zero Dragon Boat Festival is back at The Market Common. The festival is Ground Zero’s largest fundraiser and teams of 20 paddlers and one drummer will face off across the water in Grand Park. Dragon Boat racing is one of the fastest-growing international team water sports, so don’t miss the chance to see this unique and visually spectacular event in your own backyard.

Each team raises money for the cause. Teams are made up of everyone from local churches, theaters, businesses, schools, families and more. Interested in starting a team of your own? A team captain is responsible for recruiting their members, who all agree to raise a minimum of $150 for the ministry of Ground Zero. If you’re not interested in paddling but still want to help, sponsorship packages are available.

The day will also include a family-fun zone, live entertainment and food and drink vendors with goods available for purchase. Admission and parking are free and all ages are welcome.
