Starfish Gala salutes the Waccamaw Youth Center

The Waccamaw Youth Center, opened in 2001, serves a previously underserved group—young men ages 10 to 21 who have been neglected, abandoned and abused. The center provides these youths with “A Place to Call Home,” housing up to 16 at a time. Since its start almost 15 years ago, many of the more than 200 boys who spent time here have blossomed into hardworking men within our community.

Each year, the Starfish Gala helps raise funds for the center’s continued good work. The evening, held at the legendary Pine Lakes Country Club, features delicious food, great music and door prizes. A silent auction includes great packages that range from spa getaways to terrific golf rounds on area courses.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Waccamaw Youth Center and allow the group to continue to provide young boys and men in Horry County with the basic needs, education, therapy and more to help them on their way to becoming productive, contributing members of society.

Starfish Gala Friday, May 1, 7:30 p.m. Pine Lakes Country Club 5603 Granddaddy Drive Myrtle Beach $75, (843) 369-0200 www.waccamawyouthcenter.org
