Seasonal favorite Nights of a Thousand Candles will light your winter nights

Holiday favorite Nights of a Thousand Candles will be illuminating winter evenings at Brookgreen Gardens from from December 6–22.

Each year Brookgreen Gardens draws large crowds for its beloved annual holiday event. Nights of a Thousand Candles sees the gardens come to life with the soft glow of more than 4,500 hand-lit candles and countless sparkling lights. Travel + Leisure Magazine named the event “Best Christmas Lights in South Carolina,” and it’s easy to see why.

Strolling the paths with family and friends is a highlight, but the beautiful lights aren’t the only attraction that keeps visitors coming back. Opt to dine on a delicious Lowcountry menu prepared by Inlet Affairs. Options include fried seafood platters, oysters on the half shell, sides like hushpuppies with honey butter and much more. Drinks (both soft and alcoholic) are available for purchase throughout the grounds.

To round out the experience, a number of great entertainers are scheduled for the event, as well as bagpipers who will stroll the gardens nightly. Acts include Bill Oberst, Jr. performing A Christmas Carol and Natalie Daise doing Gullah Family Christmas. Musical performances by the Paul Grimshaw Band, Tru Sol, the Beach Brass Quintet and more are also in the lineup. Head to the site for a full menu and a full schedule of performances.

Nights of a Thousand Candles will kick off on Thursday, December 6, and run through Saturday, December 22. The event will be open Thursdays through Sundays and will take place from 3–10 p.m. each night. Tickets are $20 for members ($12 for children) and $25 for non-members ($15 for children) and must be purchased in advance. Space is limited for this bright and merry event, so be sure to secure your spot at this winter wonderland that’s fun for the whole family.
