The couple met while working together and dated for two and a half years before John proposed—twice. John had been practicing with his four-year-old son Robbie, who was in on the proposal, which included drawing their handprints in the shape of a heart and “will you marry us” on a dry erase board. While John was in the shower, Robbie prematurely showed Michelle the board, saying “Daddy said you should read this to me. Do you say yes?” John proposed, while actually being present this time, at night in front of Cinderella’s Castle at Disney World. The wedding took place at Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Myrtle Beach with a reception at Events at 21 Main.
