The couple met while Melissa was bike-riding on a Myrtle Beach vacation and Elvis happened to be going in the same direction on his bike. After four months together, Elvis asked Melissa to be his wife on the bench in The Market Common where he had first passed her the day they met. The ceremony was held at Heritage Golf Club. Melissa and Elvis live in Socastee.
