Homeowner Carmel Mamajek (left) and interior designer Robin Johnson of Urban Interiors consulted to bring about this striking kitchen renovation that incorporates old and new, texture and contrast. The mammoth center island is topped by rustic walnut, cabinets are inset with seeded glass and glitzy gold hardware and light fixtures get their sparkle on.
To create a stylish sound barrier to the upstairs loft media room, a shiplap gallery wall was built. The railings were redesigned in a Chippendale pattern, lending another layer of visual interest to the home.
Classic Walker Zanger tile flanks both sides of a custom range hood in the kitchen and the newly designed mudroom features built-in cubbies and brick flooring in a herringbone pattern.
All the right moves were made in this stunning bathroom with Chippendale wainscoting, an antique vanity chest and a hand-painted vessel sink.
The center-stage fireplace wall in the main family room needed to be reworked, so out came the hearth’s dark green tile surround. The walls got a creamy shiplap covering and the whole space was lightened and brightened.
Natural materials and eclectic furniture pieces point up the modern coastal aesthetic in the dining room.
