The couple shares the hometown of Hemingway, South Carolina, and knew each other from high school. They reunited about seven years ago via Facebook. When Michael returned home from working in Hawaii for a few months, they decided to meet for dinner at Quigley’s in Litchfield, which is where the romance began and never ended. After four and half years together, Michael planned a romantic Saturday at Magnolia Gardens in Charleston. After walking around and enjoying the beautiful day, he found the perfect setting on a little white bridge nestled in the garden. Here he got down on one knee and proposed. The ceremony took place at 6 p.m. on the dock of the Bucksport Marina and was a winter holiday wedding with a vintage and rustic theme. The backdrop of the ceremony was a calm evening with a clear night sky and the beginnings of the super moon over the black river. The dock was draped in fresh cedar and pine with lanterns used throughout to create an intimate and romantic setting. Minister Scott Stone, a good friend of the bride and groom, performed the ceremony.
