The Plein-Aire Wet Paint Day and Craft Show returns for its fifth year

Head across the state line for a day of great art. Jewelry By Wendy at the Calabash Cottages will host the fifth year of the Plein-Aire Wet Paint Day and Craft Show. Whether you are a seasoned professional or a dabbling amateur, you are welcome to spend the day creating a painting outdoors. The cost is $25 to participate, which includes a delightful bag lunch prepared by the Calabash Garden Tea Room. This year community involvement is key, so any high school or middle school age children are welcome to come and paint for free.

If you aren’t artistically inclined, the day will also include an Arts and Crafts Show. While the painters are creating art featuring beautiful Calabash, shoppers can enjoy this show, as well as some of the great spots at the Cottages, including Nell’s Fine Consignment, Wendy’s Gallery and Moon Fairy’s Magickal Cupboard. Grab a bite to eat at the Calabash Garden Tea Room or get pampered at Radiance Spa. Acoustic music will be provided by Cody Sifford of Pawleys Island.

Paintings from the day will be on display and for sale at the gallery from 2–3 p.m. and a “Best in Show Award” will be chosen by the public. Call (910) 575-0024 for applications or visit www.jewelrybywendy.com for more details. Whether you are creating art, picking up some great pieces or just enjoying a day out in beautiful Calabash, this event is one to add to the list.
