Nine-hole mini golf course constructed at art museum
Myrtle Beach may be known as the unofficial mini golf capital of the world, and the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum is capitalizing on that popularity. As part of the year-long celebration, I Heart Art, the museum has constructed an art-themed nine-hole miniature golf course on the ground floor.
Each brightly colored hole pays tribute to artists like Picasso, Matisse, Monet and South Carolina native Jonathan Green. The holes utilize a portion of a famous painting as the landscape upon which contours and other challenges are placed. Fun facts about the artist and photos of the original paintings are also featured.
The course, located at 3100 S. Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 1–4 p.m. Cost is $3 for nine holes and $5 for 18 holes. For more information, go to www.myrtlebeachartmuseum.org or call (843) 238-2510.
