2024 Carolina Cup

The Carolina Cup is a South Carolina tradition that is one of the premier social events in the state. This annual ‘rite of spring’ draws more than 30,000 fans from across the world to enjoy the riveting sport of steeplechase horse racing. Mark your calendars and get to shopping, as the Carolina Cup races bring a flurry of bright, spring fashions and extravagant tailgate parties. There will be a best dressed and best hat competition! From the Hospitality Terrace to the Vendor Village, friends and family unite for an exciting afternoon of racing. Easter Egg Hunt

The city is hosting its 42nd annual Easter Egg Hunt, so bring the kids out to McLean Park for this popular, fun-filled event. The egg hunt areas are divided by age group: 2 & under; 3 & 4 years old; 5 & 6 years old; 7 & 8 years old; 9 & 10 years old; and 11 & over. As anticipated, the Easter Bunny will be on hand to give out candy and pose for photo ops!

Cold-blooded Critters with Ranger Mike Walker

Get acquainted with some of our most misunderstood animals, the reptiles! Ranger Mike Walker from Huntington Beach State Park will introduce you to some of our scaly friends, including snakes, turtles, lizards, and alligators. Learn how these animals have far reaching impacts on our local ecosystems, including acting as bodyguards for wading bird chicks, helping marsh residents survive catastrophic droughts, and protecting you from vermin by acting as natural pest exterminators. NC Azalea Festival

Documentary Film Series The Snowbird Cherokees

The 2024 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with The Snowbird Cherokees. Deep in the mountains of western North Carolina is the isolated Cherokee community of Snowbird. The ancestors of these Native Americans managed to flee U.S. soldiers in 1838 when the Cherokee Nation was forced to march the Trail of Tears to Oklahoma. This film explores the daily lives and culture of the present-day Cherokees, while looking into the fascinating history and culture of these Native Americans. The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 3rd, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway. The Horry County Museum Documentary Film Matinees will continue throughout 2024. Jazz Combo and Big Band Concert

The CCU Jazz Combo performs instrumental and vocal arrangements of staple jazz repertoire, focusing on improvisation in a small ensemble setting, under the direction of Jesus Fuentes, assistant professor in the Department of Music. The CCU Jazz Big Band features traditional instrumentation and vocalists, covering Count Basie to Charles Mingus, heavy metal to contemporary jazz, under the direction of Emilio Terranova, assistant professor in the Department of Music. Free Children’s Program at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm

Join us Saturday, April 6th, for a free 30 minute activity at the Farm! Parents can sign children up for a half hour session between 9 AM-11 AM. Group sizes will be limited. In this session, children will learn about local Native American tools and pottery.
